These are tough times, but librarians, archivists and other information professionals possess many marketable skills that may be easily adapted to access, organize and unlock the value within the paper, digital and knowledge information assets for their organization or their clients.

In this first session we will identify and discuss those skill sets that are in the greatest demand in the library/information world.  The presenters will also examine alternative jobs and potential career paths for librarians and information professionals contemplating a career change or transitioning into a non-traditional role.

By the end of this program, participants will:

● Learn how to leverage their existing skills and experience or how to acquire new skill sets to improve their marketability, bolster their current work situation or take their career in a whole new direction.

● Devise a strategy to capitalize on new opportunities within their current employment situation, secure a new position or hone their skills to maximize their value in any organizational setting.

● Explore the many opportunities open to librarians/information professionals and know how to prepare for an alternative career and land a highly desirable job.

● Develop a customized, personal action plan to assure continued employment or pursue new career opportunities commensurate with that participant’s existing talents and expertise.
